The previous owner added a roll bar and put on larger tires so the original spare tire bracket was no longer long enough to extend through to the lug holes in the wheel. I found a trailer tire mounting kit at Northern Tool and Equipment and with a little modification ( a few washers and some hand bending)
, it fit the bill. I used the Hi-Lift Jack Off-Road Base to elevate the tire high enough so it would be in the proper position to bolt it on. and it also keeps the base stashed out of the way.
